Julya & Nick...Married {Highgate House, Northampton Wedding Photography}

Julya & Nick were married back in October at St Peter's Church in Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire with their reception taking place at Highgate House in Creaton.

I first met Julya & Nick at a wedding fair held at Highgate House at the beginning of the year. I met a few couples that day but for some reason when Julya phoned to talk about their plans sometime after the fair I knew exactly who they were - I think I'd hoped that if nobody else booked me from that day that Julya & Nick would.

We got together some time before the wedding for their pre-wedding shoot and instantly got on, sharing the same sense of humour and I knew then that spending their wedding day with them would be a great privilege.

I arrived at Julya & Nick's house to photograph the bridal preparations and Julya was very nervous about the day ahead, so as well as being the photogapher I became the 'third bridesmaid' and used all of my wedding experience to keep Julya calm.

It's always lovely to receive emails from couples once they've had a chance to see their photographs and Julya's was particularly special....

'…I am now sending our HUGE THANK YOU to you this way!

We are so grateful to you agreeing to do our wedding photography and for the Pre Wedding shoot.

We can only say.... AMAZING and STUNNING!

The photographs are exactly what we wanted - a story of our very special and long awaited day, in both black and white and colour.

Our wedding, as you know was not just about Nicholas and I saying our vows to each other, but ensuring our two wonderful sons were involved in the day which was OUR WEDDING.  You heard our request to ensure that the Wedding pictures showed the four of us and have captured the emotion that we knew would be there, brilliantly.

We had the most amazing day with everything going to plan.... And the horrendous nerves on my part, which the photographs really show the different stages I went through until I was calm at the top of the aisle. Great photography showing the panic stages....!

Great practical skills too, born from experience...  A bit too early for your veil......  You really need to sit down.....  You should really drink some water....  What have you eaten - to the sliced banana you made sure I ate!  You really were the third bridesmaid!!!!   I'm not sure I would have got through the nerves at this stage without your calm presence - Thank You!

Thank you so much again for such brilliant photographs and joining in our celebration with our family and friends - you made it so much easier to have the photographs taken!  We will definitely recommend you to anyone wanting special photography!'

Unfortunately Father Richard at St Peter's doesn't allow photography during the ceremony, which is a real shame, as it's such an important part of the wedding day to document.

It was a very emotional day and an absolute pleasure and a privilege to share Julya & Nick's wedding day with them.

Jane & Ian Married...{Hampshire Wedding Photography}

I've known Jane for a number of years through my corporate work so when she asked me to photograph her wedding day I was really pleased and honoured to be asked to capture her wedding day for her.

The wedding ceremony took place at The Church of the Holy Ascension in Hyde. Hyde is a small village in the New Forest and not having visited to New Forest for some time I had forgotten just how free roaming the horses and donkeys were in this area.

I met Jane at her parents house early in the morning to capture the preparation images before setting off for the nearby church. The reception was set in Jane's parents garden in a wonderful marquee and whilst there had been concerns about the rain that was forecast for the day when it did arrive it was during the journey from the church back to the house.

The whole day was very relaxed and Jane and Ian just let me get on and do my thing. A special thanks too to Jane's mum for making me feel very much part of the family.

I don't blog every wedding I shoot but I was really pleased when Jane gave me permission to share some of the images from her wedding day.

The images below are a small selection form the day. Click on a thumbnail for a larger version.

Julya & Nick...pre-wedding shoot {Northampton Wedding Photography}

I first met Julya & Nick a while back at a less than encouraging wedding fair!

I met a few couples that day but for some reason when Julya phoned to talk about their plans sometime after the fair I knew exactly who they were - I think I'd hoped that if nobody else booked me from that day that Julya & Nick would. Having now spent some time with them it's also clear we share the same sense of humour!

Julya & Nick have a small wedding planned in October which is going to be really special and I really can't wait to document their day.

Sarah & Gareth Married...{Coventry Wedding Photography}

Back in August I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Sarah & Gareth at the Windmill Village Hotel in Coventry. I'd been really looking forward to their wedding day since our pre-wedding shoot in July as they're a really fun couple to be around.

I'd met Sarah & Gareth at a previous wedding where Gareth was carrying out the 'best man' duties (the groom from that wedding, Robert, was Gareth's best man). Gareth plays in a band (the same band as Robert), and as at the previous wedding the band performed in the evening and kept the dance floor full.

It was an absolute pleasure sharing Sarah & Gareth's wedding day with them and I wish them all the best for the future.

Louise & Kostas Married...{Highgate House, Northampton Wedding Photography}

May I introduce the lovely Louise and Kostas. When we first met we instantly got on and I kept my fingers crossed that they'd book me to capture their wedding day.

We met up again back in June for their pre-wedding shoot in the Northamptonshire countryside and I knew that photographing their wedding day would be a real treat.

Louise and Kostas had their wedding ceremony and reception at Highgate House in Creaton earlier this month with some of Kostas's family flying in from Greece.

It was an absolute pleasure sharing their wedding day with them and I was able to employ some different skills during the bridal preparations fixing hats and generally keeping everybody calm.

My own thanks go to the staff at Highgate House who always look after me, to Louise's dad for mentioning me in his speech and a very special thanks to Louise and Kostas, the real stars of the day. They are a really genuine, lovely couple who are clearly made for each other and they were a joy to photograph.

It's always nice to get feedback from clients and this morning I received this superb email from Luoise and Kostas...

"We’ve had a chance to have a good look at all of the pictures now and want to send you an absolutely enormous thank you for them.  We absolutely love them!

It really was the happiest day of our lives and you’ve managed to capture all of the joy and emotions that we felt on the day for us to share and remember forever.

Not only were the photographs wonderful, but we couldn’t have done without you on the day!  You remained discrete, calm and incredibly helpful throughout – what would we have done without you during the preparations?!

In the run up to the wedding we didn’t for one moment worry about the photographs – we had every confidence in you from the moment we met you in that first meeting at our home.  The pre-wedding shoot reinforced that feeling and we were quite right to put our faith in you – we truly are delighted with the images and can’t thank you enough!"
